CRUISE HOSPITALITY PROFESSIONAL
Set Sail for an Opportunity of
a Lifetime
|
Broaden your career prospects as a cruise purser or hotel front
office. Combine your career training.
The Hospitality Industry continues to experience vast growth and
now ranks as the world's largest revenue industry and largest employer.
According to Pannell Kerr Forster, advisors to Canada's tourism
& hospitality industry, the market and financial prospects for
the hotel industry in Canada have never been better.
The
cruising sector too has been growing rapidly in the past years.
Cruising is the vacation of choice for many holiday goers because
of the fun, entertainment, service, and worldwide travel. The Vancouver
Port Corporation reports that every year around one million revenue
passengers onboard more than 300 major international cruise sailings
go through Vancouver's cruise ship facilities.
When you combine these two booming sectors, what you get is a world
of opportunities from front desk personnel, youth services, entertainers,
administrative staff, and more. Recognizing the potential and demands
in this niche, TTI developed a unique program, HOLAS (Hospitality
on Land and Sea) to provide graduates with the skills to pursue
a career in hospitality, whether on land or sea. This offers them
the flexibility to ladder between areas of the sector without having
to re-train, as the skills learned are transferable.
HOLAS was designed to produce highly valued and sought after hospitality
employees, so that they may excel and advance in their career. At
the end of this program, students will be able to perform the skills
required of front office employees or a purser in areas of passenger
services, shore excursions, crew administration, passenger logistics
and hotel clerical duties. They will have skills in Front Office
operations, an appreciation of shipboard life, knowledge of appropriate
shipboard behavior, understanding of cultural diversity, and effective
communication skills.
The Cruise Hospitality Professional (CHP) Program includes the
Front Office module, offered in partnership with the internationally
recognized Educational Institute of the American Hotel
and Motel Association. The CHP curriculum:
